His hesitation to learn about Terri Schiavo or discuss her is a red flag. Then he brings up his daughter as a parallel to Terri's situation. Fred started this by not being forthright to begin with. An overdose is not the same thing as a purposeful, hell bent starvation/dehydration. They were hell bent on killing Terri and although she could have gone to judges chambers, her wheelchair was broken and Greer wouldn't allow her in his courtroom.

In all fairness to Mr. Thompson, I would not be surprised if he really hadn't been able to form a full informed opinion about the Schiavo case because of the emotional similarities to his daughters'. True, Terri's case is in many ways very different, but that doesn't mean Mr. Thompson would have wanted to really look into it.

Still, I wish he had been able to say something like "I haven't followed the case enough to know what to make of everything, but Judge Greer's order that nobody even try to feed Terri by mouth or give her ice chips to ease her pain was just plain wrong." That would have avoided some of the harder questions while still showing a willingness to identify evil.

All the candidates have handlers. The gravity of what happened to Terri likely was overlooked by his handlers. I recall going to an event and speaking with Florida's current attorney general's advance person. That individual didn't even know who Terri was.

McCollum won his race for Fla AG and I did vote for him because the alternatives actually voted against Terri's life. The Fl AG Office does have a civil rights department although you wouldn't know it when Charlie Crist had the job. At least McCollum is a qualified attorney.

FBI raid in Tampa. I wonder who the fed officials were who got cash from Wellcare.
