What plug, exactly? Schiavo wasn't on any life support.
It was my understanding, that she was not on life support for the last several years, but for the first few, she was. It's been a long time since I read up on the medical history, so I could be wrong.
Some people will never understand, but this seems to tell the story pretty well:

I don't typically get into Metallica, but this one touched me, for I have lived it and survived. While I was paralyzed, I could not even hold my breath, my body was breathing on it's own, I could not move my head and could speak only when my body decided to exhale. I hope none of you ever know that feeling.
Sometimes, keeping someone alive, is cruel and unusual punishment, even if they have to starve to death, it's what I would want, and yes, I'll take the chance that I might go "early".
