I will certainly get flamed for this but ... religion, with its emphasis on no contraception/abortion and male privilege to control the wife, does directly have an impact on the number of children born in any family and hence its financial situation.

If the family is on the edge, more children is a cause of poverty and starvation. Heck, we see it in this country - unmarried women with children living off the government.

The cure ? Capitalism - laws, private property ownership, and innovation. Again, this country is the prime example. Where you find infanticide, starvation and poverty you usually find socialism/communism or religious tyrrany.

yes, but promoting contraceptives should not be the way to handle it. We should educate these people and help them improve living conditions through, like you said, Capitalism.

Most Catholics in developed countries do not have large numbers of kids. Religion is not the problem, poverty is.
The unwillingness of people to practice abstinance or wait until marriage in poor countries causes alot of it.

Chinese people don’t really have a religion, yet they are the most populous country in the world. Like i said, poverty
