“I know 11-year-olds have sex. “
Not if you’ve taught them properly.
I have 5 kids the 2 older ones 21 & 19 did not have sex in high school ( I cannot speak for the two older ones since they live on their own ) and the 3 younger ones ( 16,10,8 ) will follow that path. Strong presence in church, reading the Bible, doing things with your kids ( even when the older ones protest ), and being just outright nosey into their business is the key to success.
Keep them off the internet, very strict cell phone plan and rules ( do not get one until 16 and no texting ever ), monitor tv and friends, and let them know you are not above showing up out of the blue at places they are suppose to be just to check up by actually doing it.
I agree. The author is just commenting on what he runs into when he talks to these kids. He’s not condoning it by any means.
“Not if youve taught them properly.”
Parents don’t monitor friendships and acquaintances of their children? Parents don’t know where their 11 year olds are? Parents don’t teach their children?
It is just a given in modern America that 11 year olds are running wild and unmonitored. And it’s now considered normal. It may be common, but it is ABnormal.
We have an 11 year old among our seven children. We know her whereabouts ALWAYS, and with so many brothers and sisters, she has no secrets. That’s one of the benefits of having a large family.
Well, I am being unfair, I guess. My wife doesn’t work outside the home, and . . . we home school.
