Here’s Mark Levin’s take on the debate and Rudy, and I’m looking forward to hearing Levin on the radio tomorrow:

Rudy? [Mark R. Levin]

I just don’t see how it can be said, after nearly every debate, that Rudy won when he cannot distance himself from his record. Thompson hit him hard right out of the box, and Rudy responded with tort reform. At least Thompson can justify his position on tort reform on federalism grounds. But Rudy’s extreme positions on a number of issues cannot be squared by someone who continually wraps himself in the Reagan legacy. Rudy is quick on his feet. But there is serious doubt among conservatives.

Duncan Hunter said he wants mirror trade with China. He’s the only one that understands China’s cheating, and the China threat.

And this shows Hunter’s good sense of humor while getting a very important point across.

“But Hunter said Romney’s health care proposals have too many mandates that drive up the costs of health care.

“It’s got to have, for example, fertility coverage. Well, what if you’re 90 years old? We may appreciate Governor Romney’s optimism but you may not need fertility coverage,” The California congressman said.”

But there is serious doubt among conservatives.

No doubt about Rooty in this conservative, I won't vote for him in the primary or in the general if he's nominated. A man who condones and is not committed to ending the American holocaust that has killed over 8 times more unborn human beings than Jews killed by Hitler doesn't have the moral character to be president of the USA.

""In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate, look to his character. When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility, he sacrifices not only his interest, but that of his neighbor; he betrays the interest of his country."

Noah Webster, 1823

Even as far down the road to ruin as the US is at this point in time, and that's a long way IMHO , it still deserves better than a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual "rights", pro-illegal immigration, anti-2nd Amendment, cross-dressing mayor of a "sanctuary city" in the highest office in the land. If the Log Cabin Republicans, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, Sarah Brady, and their ilk want their good buddy Rooty let them organize their own party and nominate him. The GOP has never before supported the agenda of those groups and this is no time for it to start.

Well, he's not trying to distance himself from his record so that isn't really a salient point.

Rudy wins by putting his record in the context of his whole package.

Rudy wins because he is the best at going for the jugular and hammering his points home in a way that is easily understandable. I mean, Conservatives can break his positions down into minutiae, but when it comes right down to it -- this is a guy that is hated hated by the Left, hated by the NY Times, so to call him a "liberal" is pretty ridiculous. And when he laughed at the suggestion -- he won the argument.

But most of all, Rudy wins the debate because he wasn't boooed. Republicans cheer him. He knows that religious conservatives are hopelessly divided among the other candidates, that vote is split. And Rudy has a lock on the GOP moderates. All he needs is about 10% of religious conservatives and he wins the nomination.
