The political headline of last week, "Reid's popularity falls among Nevadans," wasn't all that surprising. Nevada's never been particularly wild about Harry Reid. But he's always managed to cobble enough of a constituency to ward off opponents, even if by the narrowest of margins.
The surprise was in the degree of voter disenchantment. The poll commissioned by the Las Vegas Review-Journal showed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's unfavorable rating had moved past the 50 percent mark -- 51 percent, to be precise. His favorable rating was 32 percent, 2 points lower than embattled, lame duck President George W. Bush.

He was just re-elected.
That is why he is so bold.
This editorial, from a supportive publication, is significant. If Reid’s negatives continue to rise, the state’s establishment may decide that supporting him is more trouble than it’s worth. He could even decide to retire.
Reid is up for reelection in 2010.
2010, Mr. Reid meet Mr. Daschle.
Maybe he will get caught tapping his foot in a bathroom stall. It’s up to you Nevadans. Somebody get out there and catch him. If you have to frame him.
Type “Nevada’s biggest embarrassment” into Google’s image searh and you’ll find Dingy Harry Reid pictured.
He can take his best buddy Jim Gibbons with him, too. If Gibbons is renominated, just like with Reid, we’ll win the Senate seat and lose the Governorship. Thanks for nothing, Jimbo.
Sherman forgot to mention Dingy Harry’s real estate scams. He’s made millions while there are over 30,000 foreclosed houses sitting there empty.
I would say that summarizes the Democrat platform quite well!
Bye, bye Reid. No one I know in Nevada likes him.
My parents used to live in Carson City, Nevada, and the people around there don’t like Liberals like Harry playing games with our national security. It’s bad for business.
2010
Indeed. When Gibbons first visited our small town as a congressman, I liked and backed the guy. After 9/11, when he came out against arming pilots, I soured on him and backed other candidates.
Nevada deserves Reid, as does the inept Republican party. They had their chance in the last election and ran an unknown against him and lost Big Time. Gibbons had a representative show up in town once a month and she got a deer-in-the-headlights look when I told her that Republicans didn’t deserve to be in power if they were so inept.
You folks in Nevada ought to start a recall effort - I bet that would get his attention.
You can’t recall a federal official from office. Statewide is a different story, though, if a given state has such a provision in their Constitution.
The thing was that Gibbons was the only person who could beat Reid in 2004, but he ignored all the pleas. He didn’t do the right thing in going for the Governorship (where we already had an excellent candidate with State Sen. Bob Beers), and I have no doubt now that both Reid and Gibbons gave little winks and nods to one another... Gibbons didn’t contest Reid’s dominance and Reid wouldn’t contest Gibbons running for Governor. When rodents cut deals with RINOs, look out, because that means Conservatives get screwed.
Good read till the President Hillary........
