Another news bit:

Two Out of Control Fires in Southern CA

*******************************

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) - Two Los Angeles area wildfires are causing worries this morning.

A 50-acre blaze near the Pacific Coast Highway is threatening Pepperdine University and the Malibu Crest neighborhood. L.A. County fire officials say it has burned at least 50 acres.

In the northeastern part of the county, 50 mile-per-hour winds and dry conditions have been stoking a blaze in the Angeles National Forest. Authorities say that fire has consumed about 500 acres.

Fire officials are focused on protecting a town in Ventura County about five miles west of the blaze. A Forest Service spokesman says the fire could threaten homes to the south and southwest by the end of the day if the fires continues to move that direction. Picture courtesty of CBS5
