Definitely still active fire in San Diego, and there are still winds, so things keep flaring up in areas that seemed calmer (ie Poway was calmer and then flaring up in areas, as was RB). South SD definitely very active still, as is most everything off of Del Dios Highway from 15 to the 5.
500,000+ evacuated from San Diego. Only 50,000 evacuated in 2003 Cedar fires. HUGE difference in scope.
They are letting part of Poway in and Scripps Ranch, but they are NOT anticipating letting ANYONE else back in until 24 hours from now.
RB will be 24 hours at the earliest before anyone is allowed in.
A relatively full list will be released of homes destroyed (destroyed only, not damaged it sounds like) in RB this afternoon (I’ll post a link for those interested).
The mayor and councilman said that Rancho Bernardo “looks like a war zone” and that the destruction is “very significant”.
New evacuations in Julian taking place.
