Thanks again, calcowgirl. For all I know my brother and his family have already been evacuated. I tried to phone him yesterday afternoon and his phone line rang without the voice mail picking up. I left a message on his cellphone and I’m thinking they’re already out of there. Hopefully.
One of the Posters mentioned an area which is pretty close to where my brother lives.
They’ve been doing a fabulous jobs with the evacuations. If they were in danger, I think they would have been advised. They’ve had evacuations of more than 300,000 folks (I even read 350,000). They are using “Reverse 911” calls. Pretty cool!
They’re losing lots of homes, but not residents (if that is any consolation).
From CAL Fire (via KPBS). I couldn’t catch it all, but this was the latest status just reported:
Harris Fire: 22,000 acres burned. 5% contained. 500 homes lost.
McCoy Fire: 300 acres burned. 50% contained.
Rice Fire (Fallbrook): 1500 acres burned, 50 homes lost, 30 damaged. All of Fallbrook - evacuated.
Witch Fire: 145,000 acres burned. 100% UNcontained. 500 homes, 100 commercial structures, 50 outbuildings lost. 250 buildings damaged.
