Bump to that. Scapegoats. This should never happen.

All we have from Mattis is the Marines Corps press releases here and here.

Regarding Murtha, LCpl Tatum is NOT being court martialed for murder. We'll have to wait for next week to see what Mattis will do with the Wuterich case.

I had hoped Mattis would end the BS myself. My thoughts, prayers and support continues for all of these fine Marines.

I am basing this guess off of another case, but is it going to be another 10 months before it goes to court?

Do they get to remain at home?

Well, the press release for Tatum from the Marine Corps say “involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault” ...against whom? The original Iraqis he was charged with? This is not very specific. Involuntary manslaughter is not murder, but goes beyond negligent homicide recommended for SSGT Frank Wuterich. Hmmmmm.

Whoever is at the top decided that most of the men should be released with no penalty, but that they should crucify a couple to please the Left.

The legal system, even in the military, is not about justice. It’s about punishing both sides for causing a problem - even if one side is totally innocent. It’s also about making a compromise rather than giving justice to the innocent.

It’s like that same stupidity we saw on the playground as kids. Whenever a fight occurred, both got punished, not the one who actually started it. You defend yourself, you get punished - supposedly because the Leftists want no violence whatsoever.

“Hmmmm” is right! And it’s the weekend so Pendleton is closed for questions until Monday.

I believe Gen Mattis is beyond political influence. But the timing of this fourth-star confirmation hearing leaves plenty of room to wonder.

Mattis has stood tall in the past, and throughout his career. But I can't help but share your wonder.

The furor generated by the reports and Murtha’s outlandish rhetoric sparked two separate investigations of the battalion’s actions.

Command Influence? Is that what this is? It wouldn't surprise me, hell, it's obvious.

But Mattis? I'd hate to think his knees are buckling for nothing more than a lousy fourth star. What would that make him, another Wesley Clark?

Pure coincidence right?

Correction. The article contains an error. The date of the ambush was November 19, 2005--not December 19, 2005. It's been corrected on Defend Our Marines.

I just pray that the general deserves our faith, smooth, and that these weren't empty words...

If Murtha is on in this, a brawler is what we need. Gen Mattis' last act in the Haditha case (before he goes four-star) will be a decision on the SSgt Wuterich case.

If Mattis accepts the IO's recommendation and drops murder charges, then Murtha's goose is cooked. Remember (I know you do) that Murtha said it was cold-blooded murder--not involuntary manslaughter.

OK, but that is still ALMOST 2 years, not 3.

It’s 2007 right?

Did I lose a year?

Does almost 3 years sound better?

Can we be correct if we say almost 5 years, because 5 is more than 3?

Apologies, you are correct. It’s been two years since the ambush. It has been corrected at the source. (See “Forgive Us, O Lord” picture above.)
