You may have heard about the comments of NRA Director Joaquin Jackson during a media interview.
Interviewer asks about "assault weapons" not hunting, he doesn't even bring hunting up. The key words in the question are "law enforcement", "concerned", "assault weapons", "keeping of the peace". Where is "hunting" in here?
JJ responds with "(I) believes...a weapon should never...I personally believe a weapon...never...over... (if a) civilian - 5 round capacity."
THEN he brings up hunting and if you're a good hunter not needing more than one shot.
The interview goes on:
If you are an NRA life member or an annual member in good standing for the past five years, you can download and sign the petition to recall Jackson from his seat on the NRA Board of Directors:
The NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation filed their lawsuits as quickly as they could. They are also on the forefront of making sure the citizens are getting their guns back.
The GOA still hasn’t done a thing. No lawsuit, no petitions before the court, no filing motions for contempt of court by the mayor or the chief of police like the NRA or the SAF. Nothing.
The GOA is nothing more than a family owned t-shirt and novelties company. Entirely useless for anything else.
Over fifty different shooting programs and the NRA-ILA even has a legal defense fund. They are involved in over sixty court cases.
CCW laws, Castle Doctrine, the end of the Assault Weapons Ban, and algore losing Tennessee.
He still needs to stand down !
While you’re whining you have to miss a couple of minutes of Dancing with the Stars and get out of the Lazy-Boy to throw a couple of pieces of paper away, others are getting out their checkbooks.
Ted Nugent for PONRA?
“While youre whining you have to miss a couple of minutes of Dancing with the Stars and get out of the Lazy-Boy to throw a couple of pieces of paper away, others are getting out their checkbooks.”
WOW you are an offensive proponent for the NRA. I guess I would be in good company if I joined.
Pointing out how much money they waste on mailings is not whining. Its a huge waste of MY money if I join. IF I CHOOSE to join then I should have a say in how money is spent? No???
Take your checkbook and write out another check. I’ll give my time and money to other more worthy causes. Not one that supported the assault weapons ban or one that elects people like this guy to its board while professing to be supportive of our freedoms.
I don’t want you to join the NRA. You already said throwing a piece of paper away bothers you. We need useful volunteers who are willing to get things done and not have some snappy slogan like “no compromise” while sitting on their asses.
Plus if things get really messy, why would anyone want someone like you around? If you’re so lazy during the ballot box stage, No one would want you around during the ammo box stage.
To clarify, when I wrote...”I don’t support some of their ideas”.... one can rarely find an organization that they agree with 100%. IMHO, I think they should be *more* proactive (Like GOA and the Jewish organization) and less willing to compromise. (of course, they may have changed over the past couple of years, ...I need to renew)
I often wondered it was because of a lack of funding. I considered them proactive because they 'get the word out', and keep us informed. Do you receive their emails?

Think about it. Not one of the FR GOA members have ever been able to explain what they have actually accomplished in all the years I have been on FR. No one. The only thing I have ever noticed they do is sell novelties and t-shirts. Sending money to the GOA for occasional emails that mention the NRA half a dozen times isn't getting your monies worth.
Thanks - got it. I’ll send it in.
GOA's most recent accomplishment is bringing to light the back room deal the NRA made with the democRATS to get HR 2640 passed in the house! I'd say that's pretty big. There are a lot of us NRA members that aren't happy with that! I'm tired of the NRA compromising away my RIGHTS. If the leadership had any balls at all they could help to roll back the unconstitutional infringements on our gun rights instead of cozying up to the communist/socialist/leftist gun grabbers.
NRA Bylaws
Article II
Purposes and Objectives, Section 1
The purposes and objectives of the National Rifle Association are:
1. To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, especially with reference to the inalienable right of the individual American citizen guaranteed by such Constitution to acquire, possess, collect, exhibit, transport, carry, transfer ownership of, and enjoy the right to use firearms, in order that the people may always be in a position to exercise their legitimate individual rights of self-preservation and defense of family, person, and property, as well as to serve effectively in the appropriate militia for the common defense of the Republic and the individual liberty of its citizens;
Why? I joined years ago and still don’t have a gun.
This months Soldier Of Fortune allows him to state his defense, it made sense for the first few sentences, and then it collapsed.
“There are a lot of us NRA members that aren’t happy with that! I’m tired of the NRA compromising away my RIGHTS. If the leadership had any balls at all they could help to roll back the unconstitutional infringements on our gun rights instead of cozying up to the communist/socialist/leftist gun grabbers.”
The NRA is the most powerful gun lobby now. They used to be a good organization and built their base on that reputation. I wonder what their membership and power will be in 20 years after they’ve alienated all the potential members.
They waste an enormous amount of money with their mailings. Money that could be spent for education, lobbying, events and all kinds of things to education people. The gun control crowd only succeeds where people are ignorant. Once people see a firearm as an important tool it no longer becomes this self possessed incarnation of evil as portrayed by Brady and company.
So adding together their waste and their policy of compromise I cannot see a reason to support them. There are other organizations actually fighting for our Constitutional rights and not our right to hunt.
This afternoon.
I guess gun control is Constitutional now since the NRA is supporting it.
The NRA is nothing but an organization that is meant to calm the angry beast gun owner. It makes the sheep think something is being done to help them. I have never enjoyed gala parties where the Elite dress up in their glad rags. I really get upset when they do it on my dime and then have the nerve to ask for more.
