Fear not, fellow Americans! In these dark days of war, pestilence and Paris Hilton, a new hero has arisen. She is none other than 75-year-old Mona "The Hammer" Shaw, who took the aforementioned implement to her local Comcast office in Manassas to settle a score, and boy, did she!
This was after the company had scheduled installation of its much ballyhooed "Triple Play" service, which combines phone, cable and Internet services, in Shaw's brick home in nearby Bristow. But Shaw said they failed to show up on the appointed day, Monday, Aug. 13. They came two days later but left with the job half done. On Friday morning, they cut off all service.
This was the company that has had consumer service problems serious enough to prompt the trade magazine Advertising Age to editorialize that Comcast and other cable providers should spend less on advertising and more on customer service. And has spawned a blog called ComcastMustDie.com that's filled with posts from angry customers.

In my area Comcast is merely screwing up what Time Warner had screwed up previously.

None of them are worth a damn. We got the Verizon phone broadband and TV deal. Only because Time Warner wasn't yet available here. After setting a date 2 weeks out for our free install, they showed up. After they were finished the phone line had a hum in it so loud you couldn't use it, the net was no faster, and the satellite TV? Less channels than we had before, an unusable interface, (and I am not exactly a tech idiot) and the service went out every time the humidity rose above 80% or it sprinkled. Then the had the gonads to charge us for installation and charge us 30 bucks more a month for a package we weren't getting. It took 3 weeks to fix the phone after the tech didnt show up for 3 different apts that WE were here for. In the meantime Time-warner became available and we switched. That was not without its problems either, but the service worked, the techs showed up on time and were nice guys.
Verizon has billed us $467 for 2 months of a service that didn't work and was supposed to cost $117 a month with free install. Needless to say, they ain't gettin paid.
