(WJZ) BALTIMORE WJZ.COM has learned a fuel truck has been stolen from a gas station in South Baltimore.
Officials say that the truck operator was refilling the gas tubes at a gas station on 3100 block of Vera Street, when a black male, wearing a blue jump suit, got into the driver seat and took off.
Police say the driver tried to get back in the truck, but the suspect pointed a gun at the driver and told him to get out of the truck.
The truck is described as a 1997 Peterbilt with dark wood. On one side it says "Baltimore Tank Lines." There is also a silver trailer attached to the truck.
The truck's Maryland license plate is 436-F45 and the tanker has Maine license plate 126-8185.
There may be some front end damage to the truck, because the suspect struck a fence on his way out.
The truck was last seen heading toward Interstate 95.
The driver was not injured.
“How the hell did it get all the way here to Washington DC...”
S. Capitol St. to boot.
Maybe he was late getting back to the Navy Yard and did not want to be AWOL. You know how those squids are. :-) (ducks)
Yeah he did not want to miss deployment on the U.S.S. Neversail AKA U.S.S. Barry.
This perp is probably just going to sell the stuff on the black market. It could be terrorism, but I doubt it.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the IMF/World Bank meetings are this weekend. There are always protests in DC during these meetings. Some of them have been pretty intense.
Never thought about that angle. You could be right. Let's just hope that's who took this one.
“U.S.S. Barry.”
Named after that fine, upstanding, gentleman Marion?
Nah the Barry is named for a Naval Warhero, not our Mayor for life.
Poor attempt at a joke.
I should be ashamed.
“Propelled by powerful, quick response gas turbine (jet) engines to speeds in excess of 30 knots, USS BARRY is a diverse and extremely capable ARLEIGH BURKE - class AEGIS Guided Missile Destroyer. USS BARRY is the fourth ship in the Navy to bear the name.”

I don’t know. There were a lot of trucks around. They weren’t talking to each other, so I assumed they weren’t together. I remember that the one in front of me had an elastic waist at the back of his and they all had similar boots but different shades and they looked like working shoes.
the tanker was found, emptied
ping.
