Indentured Servitude.

Our Church got caught up in that trap. We sold pumpkins several seasons to make money for our Youth Group. Some teenagers came by one night and destroyed our entire stock.

The cops caught the perps and then gave our Church leaders a sob story of the perps & parents not having any money to pay for the damages. Suggested instead that we use our heart to drop charges and have them work it off by doing our yard work (mowing).

Cops called us two days later and said that that would be Indentured Servitude (Federal Laws) and that the perps would not be responsible for their actions since they (cops) got us to drop charges.

It was only $12K (our cost) worth of pumpkins.
