That would be a violation of the constitution of the USA. The Government can't interfere with the church. Church property is sovereign in a sense.

That hasn't stopped the sex zealots from trying, and costing churches plenty. If the local government is corrupt or gay-favoring, the church may have to go all the way to appeal to get justice from petty taxation suits, forbidden parking accommodations, denied building permits, etc etc. Have you heard of the Ocean Grove Methodists' recent problem, being sued because they would not allow their beachfront property to be used for a lesbian wedding? It will cost them plenty to get justice, and may not be able to because of the preponderance of gays in resort town locations.
