I do believe that this wasnt just a prank but kids from leftist households who went out to make a statement. They knew what they were doing and they knew the message that they wanted to send.

I tend to agree with you. The flag is never a target of “random” vandalism. Anyone who burns a flag is making a political statement. These horrid, ignorant kids were going to “show George Bush” or some such nonsense. Only after it was shown to be a brave Marine’s burial flag did they decide to stash their “radical” credentials in the closet.
My son is 16 and a bunch of his friends are kook fringe leftists from their parents and teachers. GW, BDS, and Bush bombed the trade center, etc.... Pretty sad.
