Free Republic Ron Paul Ping List: Join/Leave

An anti-U.N. ping. Perhaps Mitt is beginning to articulate a positive and pro-sovereignty message.

The more the merrier. Dr. Paul has never claimed a patent on abolishing the U.N. He welcomes everyone to join him in calling for defunding this criminally corrupt and incompetetent group of international meddlers and bunglers and for expelling it from our soil.

I don't think that Romney is calling for abolishing the U.N., but for possibly withdrawing from it to form a new aliance. Of course, the U.N. would self destruct without our support. Which would be a good thing.

FReepers need to read what Mitt really said. All Mitt would do is just replace one inefficient anti-American foreign body with another inefficient, a little-less anti-American foreign body with unspecified nations.

I don't see anything here to get excited about other than the hypocrisy of FReepers who call Paul a kook for advocating withdrawal from the UN since the 70s but when a flip-flopper from Mass. suddenly has another deathbed conversion he's praised as the 2nd coming.

When he gets the backbone to say, “The United States should tear up our UN membership card and remove the communist organization from US soil immediately.”, that is the day that I will make a large contribution and very likely vote for the man. Until then, no chance.

I’m calling Ron Paul dividends - it can be seen across all of the other Republican candidates as well. Thankfully, the only policies failing to experience this form of osmosis are related to foreign policy - the main area in which Ron Paul falls short.

Anyway, I am extremely happy to be hearing these and similar comments from Thompson and Romney - it at least helps get these ideas disseminated. For all of the folks who take pride in poo-pooing the “third-tier” candidacies of Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, and Duncan Hunter, take note: they do not have to win to shape the race, shape the candidates, and cause deviation of America from its leftist course. Duncan Hunter imprinted the China and immigration memes; Tancredo has been pushing immigration and cultural identity; Ron Paul has been pushing almost every conservative issue (though I wish he would do so with more gusto than he does his foreign policy madness). I hope each of these candidates stay in the race as long as possible, and continue to shame/coerce/make more palatable/convince or otherwise inculcate within the “top-tier” Republicans notions of conservatism. The only other forces (Dems, MSM) are those pulling them to the left.

Congrats to Romney for seeing the light wrt the UN (assuming he is sincere).
