The Portland school board on Wednesday approved a measure allowing middle-school students to gain access to prescription birth control medications without notifying parents. (from the article)
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Hm?.....a 7th grader is mature enough to handle the responsibility of birth control pills,,,OR,,,choose an abortionists when she fails to be consistent with the pills....

BUT,,,,Her parents are supposedly too stupid to be able to use a school voucher.

Whoa! What a Brave New World we live in!

You’re absolutely right about the risks to these girls and their lack of responsibility and maturity.

They can hardly practice personal hygiene properly at that age and they’re expected to be responsible enough to take the pill as directed and monitor their own health and deal with any health emergencies?

I was at the dr this morning and some morning show was on. The hosts discussed this and even they were appalled. They asked the audience if anyone there thought this was a good idea. One couple raised their hands. When asked if they had any children, the answer was (predictably) No.

Sheesh, when even liberal talk show hosts are opposed to this, it must be bad.

The problem I see with this stealth maneuver is that it appears that if you want you child to receive even basic, rudimentary first aid kind of care, you have to sign the form which gives them blanket authority to do anything and everything. Even if you can opt out of the pill part, there’s still the physical exams (remember those personal exams the schools gave those sixth graders some time ago) and the permission to give immunizations, which would include anything the left deems necessary, like Gardasil or maybe this new AIDS vaccine I’ve heard of.

This whole thing is beyond appalling.

In addition, they do nothing to protect against STDs, so, who is responsible when the girls come down with all the nasty little bugs?

I agree this is just incredibly stupid, but from what I’ve read, parents must first allow their kids to use the health clinic. You don’t want your kids to have access (which I wouldn’t), don’t give permission.

I take exception to the title of your article.

Birth control is not being ALLOWED in this Maine school. It is being INSTITUTIONALIZED and ENSHRINED at the school.

I believe there is a scripture verse in the KJV that describes unregenerate man as: “sinning with both hands, dilligently.” I recently moved and cannot lay my hands on my Strong’s Concordance, so maybe someone could look it up and see if I am right about that scripture.

At any rate, this is what these godless liberal school administrators remind me of........not content to wallow in sin all by themselves; they feel compelled to go out and recruit 11 year old children to get in the mire and wallow with them!
