But seriously... yes, great scenery, FANTASTIC restaurants, and great “urban hiking”... and (liberal or not) there are lots of nice people there, and very few thuggish ones, in my experience.

Years back when the darling ex and I were trying to hold our marriage together we went to a B&B in the Tomales Bay area. On the way back we stopped at Fisherman's Wharf to eat. Had a great dinner, watched the sun set, etc. On the way out she asked how I liked the dinner? I told her it was great, but the waiter was a little gay for my tastes.

Ever so liberal, she gets all huffy, how dare you assume he's gay just because we're in San Fransisco! I didn't think he was gay!

Well dear, that's because he wasn't rubbing his thigh on your back.

Made for a quiet trip home...
