The Democrats' SCHIP Runs Aground (Free Republic Mentioned)
Investors Business Daily ^ | Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Congress: After smearing a compassionate conservative in their attempt to override President Bush's veto of an overloaded SCHIP bill, Democrats promise to try again. Maybe next time they will tell the truth.

SNIP

Under the Democrats' proposed expansion, says the National Center for Public Policy Research, "it is not inconceivable that a parent with one child with an income of $13,690 will be funding benefits for two children in a family of four with an income of $82,600." "Isn't that sad for America's children?" Pelosi said of the prospect of Bush's veto being sustained. Well, no, not if Pelosi is willing to accept Boehner's invitation to craft a reauthorization that helps children genuinely in need without creating a new entitlement program for those who don't.

Speaking of those who don't, columnist Michelle Malkin and the folks at FreeRepublic.com have checked out the Frost family's bona fides. Turns out they live in a home worth an estimated $300,000. Graeme's father, Halsey, owns commercial real estate and has his own small business.

SNIP

In their zeal to override Bush's veto, the Washington Times reports, the Florida Democratic Party issued a press release and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee made press calls attacking GOP Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart of Florida.

His crime? Helping nine disabled Ukrainian children, using private funding from generous donors, to obtain prosthetic limbs. "Children in Diaz-Balart's district deserve access to the same quality health care he arranged for his guests," said the Miami-Dade Democratic Party chairman, Joe Garcia.

Have Democratic leaders no shame? They trot out a poster child from a well-off family and attack a colleague known for his humanitarian record.

All children deserve access to high-quality health care, and we suggest Democrats work with Republicans to help those who genuinely need it but can't afford to get it.

Excellent, long live Free Republic. The great news is that the democrats are not going to get the votes to overcome the President veto on this Socialized medicine program. Yet another defeat for the democrats, have these impotent traitors won anything with substance yet? No wonder why they, their lunatic base, and their media are going more delusional, more desperate, more hateful, and more treasonous in each passing hour, they simply cannot win.

It's a rhetorical question, right?

I mean, everybody knows the Democrat leaders have no shame.

Speaking of those who don't, columnist Michelle Malkin and the folks at FreeRepublic.com have checked out the Frost family's bona fides. Turns out they live in a home worth an estimated $300,000.

Tax assessed at 260k, house a few doors down 1000sf smaller and also an end unit sold for 485k.

Graeme's father, Halsey, owns commercial real estate

Bought for 160k in 1999 (when he said Frostworks folded due to high health insurance costs)

and has his own small business

Just not called Frostworks anymore in which he uses his F-250 truck.

Graeme and sibling Gemma both attend expensive private schools.

Both attended Park prior to the accident. Gemma now attends a special needs school paid for by the state while the other kids get "financial aid" NOT full scholarships-the parents are spending money to send the kids to private school.

The Frosts have two other school-age children.

That they are also paying for to attend private school.

Their parents chose not to buy private insurance even though they have significant assets

They made the decision to stop buying coverage sometime between 1999 and the accident. a decent income

45-50k is claimed but they refused a baltimore Sun request to release their tax return.

and, as insurance bloggers found out, there are plans for a family of six for as little as $452 a month.

IIRC thats the cost if they had bought prior to accident. looking to buy coverage after an accident with preexisting conditions makes the price higher.

Article leaves out mention of the other vehicles as well-a Volvo SUV and GMC Suburban, but otherwise they did their homework and did not buy the spin that 'all the facts were debunked".

BTW-Thanks for the advice today kristinn!

The Dems do have a point about the Ukrainian kids, though.

Yeah, and maybe I'll win the lottery.
