You’re right, information varies, but Hibiclens is what we continue to use and it appears to be effective. The biggest thing I gather is just pure diligence in hand-washing and universal precautions (and no, I’m not a nurse, but I’ve learned my lesson).

I also think my not using antibiotics much in my life is why my two lesions healed as fast as they did or at least didn’t get larger and spread....however, that is totally anecdotal.

Not to be too gross here, but given the nasal passage colonization, if you work in a jail or a hospital or so forth, picking the nose would probably be a really bad idea. Tissues only and they go in the trash.

You sound like you are blessed w/ a good immune system, Najida, and haven’t had to take many antibiotics. I’m glad for you.

I think we might have been talking about 2 different things. I was talking about “eradication” of MRSA — getting rid of the MRSA from the whole body which has proven to be extremely difficult. Sounds like you are using hibiclens to wash the hands, abrasions, etc., preventing contamimination which is appropriate.

Hibiclens is an antiseptic and continuous use of it over the whole body might rid the body of the necessary good bacterial flora. I don’t think I could recommend it for showering on an ongoing basis. But the data is subject to frequent updates.
