Authorities were working Monday to learn the identities of a number of survivors who apparently walked away from this weekend's fiery crash in an Interstate 5 truck tunnel, and, as far as officials are concerned, disappeared into thin air.

At least nine unaccounted-for drivers are presumed to have been in the tunnel at the time of the massive chain-reaction crash that temporarily severed California's primary north-south traffic artery Friday night.

Were they seen ‘walking away’ or it that speculated? In thin air? Did they burn up in the inferno? Is is 100% certain they were illegals? No facts that I can see, only inferences.

Lot of California drivers don’t carry insurance. They could be deadbeat Murrican citizens.

If any of the nine missing drivers are linked to a commercial vehicle ... DOT will be all over their employers, or not, depending how well connected they are.

California is very slack on following FMCSA/HSA/DOT till the stuff hits the fan.

you receive a nice little note from the DMV requesting proof of insurance...spoken from one who knows. LOL

but your point is well taken, there are a lot of people including illegals who not only don’t have insurance they don’t even have a valid driver’s license.
