The Ottoman government was as much a Syrian, Azerbaijani, Iraqi, Kuwaiti, Saudi, Egyptian, Tunisian, Lebanese government as it was an Anatolian government.

At the end of WWI the Ottoman state was abolished and carved up by the victorious allies. The people who lived there were punished through the creation of various kings and dictators to rule over them.

The Turks fought back ~ presumably they are selected out for condemnation because they were not sufficiently survile.
