In Russia they say:”..If price of oil is about $20 then Russia is the raw source appendix to West. But if the price of oil is about $80 then West is the technological appendix to Russia..”:))

They cannot afford to.

Putin’s legacy is that he was in charge during the great inflation of energy prices combined with tremendous weakening of the dollar. Combine that with the free market effects that strengthened the Russian economy and thus I fear that we will wake up one day and realize we spent the last six years worrying about the wrong enemy.

Everything about Russia foreign policy can be explained by their need to keep the price of oil high and to drive it higher. That's why they thwart attempts to contain Iran. That's why they sell their arms to blacklisted countries near oil-producing areas. That's why they sell nuclear technology to Iran and Syria. That's why they are trying to wedge themselves in between us and the stans. That's why they stir up trouble in the Middle East.
