No tears from me.
His grandfather or great-grandfather was an American who headed for Mexico the day Lincoln was shot.
He gave up on America and chose Mexico instead. At least it was Mexico who had Fox for a politician, not us!
Good!
I guess all that's left is for the crowd to beat it up with the soles of their shoes!!
Har!
Let’s what he gets for making light of Presidente Bush.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Bush has lots of fans in Mexico.
In the vast scheme of things, a statue here or there makes no difference. What does make a difference is that the PRI was overruled by the electorate (if we can assume the election was reasonably honest) and a new poplitical party took power.
To diss a statue of a president of the opposing party is to diss the process and the country, and to show a frame of mind unsuited to self-rule.
I don't think this is a good thing. The better thing would be if the people had said to themselves, "He beat us, more or less fair and square, so he gets a statue for that; lets make sure we beat him and his kind next time."
Fair points.
Wow! And we didn’t even have to invade. Although, sarcasm aside, I’m guessing Fox is the lesser of two evils. Still pretty evil but I imagine the opposition is worse.

Vicente Fox is the one with the giant eraser, trying to obliterate the Mex/U.S. border, while in-your-face-gringo demanding that we accept unlimited numbers of illegals?
And they rip down his statue?
Well now, that’s gratitude for ye!
;^)
Well we did in a way. He was over here in Minnesota christening Mexican Consulates.
He spoke at Harding U in Arkansas a few months after the openning of the Mexican Consulate in Little Rock, AR.
As I say, I have no especial fondness or contempt for Fox. I DO worry about the the frame of mind requisite for liberal (in the good sense) Democracy (in the loose sense, which includes representative gummint.) A major aspect of the peril brought in with all these illegales is a completely unamerican idea of what the role of the government is and how it should carry out its duties. A place, like Mexico, which is not only riddled with corruption but thinks that such filth is tolerable is not fertile ground for freedom.
As a conservative, I think FDR was a disaster. I don't think anyone should trash his memorial. WE should just resolve to do what it takes to keep the country from being seduced by another crowd of "we are just so much better than you and we know just so much more than you that we don' need no feelthy steenkin' constitution" crowd.
Oh. Wait. Too late.
I had suspected he had made his rounds in the country, promoting the ‘matricular cards’.
If I had been there, I would have helped them pull that statue down.
FDR is dead and this statue of Fox is not a memorial to a dead man. As poor as the people of Mexico are with many living in card board boxes in barrios, yes, I can understand their hatred of Fox. Most of these people have a 6th grade education and that is all. At least they spoke up and showed they didn’t like it. Most people here just sit back behind the computers and do nothing.
I guess I don’t think tearing a statue down counts as “doing something” when one also has the opportunity to organize and vote. Should we tear down statues of Bubba BJ Clinton?
Where are the statues of Bubba BJ Clinton????
As I explained, the majority of the Mexican people don’t even come close to having a high school education. The poor parts of their towns are absolute card board boxes. No running water or sewage.
Opportunities? The poor peasant of Mexico does not have the opportunities that you take for granted. Yes, they vote but that is about it. In approximately a year after V.Fox left office they see a gold colored statue praising a rich man.
Mexico is home of the richest man in the world. Fox is also one of the oligarchs in Mexico.
