We're both in denial and its a function of multicultural obsequiousness. America knew when the Cold War began, we had an ideological battle with Communism headed by a totalitarian Soviet Union. In contrast, today we dare not name the Islamofascist enemy. We know the adversary is committed to our destruction. But we still think he can be reasoned with and with our Western wizardry, what angers him can be made to disappear. Its a sort of solipsism that puts us all in great danger. We won't survive if we refuse to acknowledge we can't offer Islamofascists nothing they don't already have or that they can't get from us. The other side is clear about what we should do: die. That's why Mark Steyn laments the lack of ideology on the subject among West elites. Its a good bet much of our current difficulty can be traced to the fact we don't yet have one to identify and defeat the enemy we're supposed to be at war with right now.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
It’s like in the Harry Potter series where the bad guy is called “he who must not be named”.
Is it politically incorrect to name our enemy? Or just plain denial? The first step in any 12 step program is to acknowledge the problem/addiction. There is a good reason why this is step 1 because nothing else can follow without this basic step.
