Catholics need to remember what our faith teaches. What choice between two pro-abortion, pro-homosexual candidates?
The only man who fits the bill entirely is Duncan Hunter. He has been trying to protect the unborn children for his entire time in the Congress.

Please don’t tell me to be realistic. My entire family, all of my friends are the kind of Catholics that need a good slap upside the head. If Catholics listened to the teachings of our Holy Father instead of the TV/MSM, there really wouldn’t be much to debate. Also, my 15 yr. old Shi Tzu is more of a Roman Catholic that Rudy Guliani is, so his “faith” isn’t even a factor.

Oh, yes. How with 24% Catholics in the country how can we end up with 2 pro-abortion, pro-homosexual-marriage candidates like Hillary and Guilianni. Makes no sense.

Your words to their ears! Kudos on an excellent post!

Over the past few months, I have discovered many Catholics who are active in the Democratic party. For years I have been perplexed by what drives these catholic dems and have now gleaned some insight. They are the most generous and giving individuals I have ever met - so why their tenacious grip on a pro-death political party? My read on them is that they do not feel they should impose their faith views on the populace at large. They view themselves as defenders of everyone's right to practice what they believe, even if it is contrary to their faith.

While I don't agree with them, at least I have a clearer understanding of why they subscribe to these political issues.

(BTW - you should consider joining the Catholic ping list. Please freepmail me, if you are interested. )

"Please don’t tell me to be realistic. My entire family, all of my friends are the kind of Catholics that need a good slap upside the head." Yeah, mine too. Many of them are open to the truth, at least. Yet, many of them are tired of getting burned. Alot of them want to be pacifists at any cost. Some of them are supporting Ron Paul-which is weird. They are surprised when they hear his record doesn't match his rhetoric. I know other, older, educated folks who convince themselves that a president can't really do anything about abortion anyway, so it's okay to vote for dems. Now I remind them of Alito and Roberts' contributions to upholding the partial birth abortion ban. Duncan Hunter has personal integrity and a consistent record on life. He has consistently pushed personhood legislation for the unborn, opposed stem cell research, and defended human life from the womb to the tomb. He also understands that civilized societies must have laws and they must enforce them. A society cannot burden law-abiding citizens, coddle lawbreakers, and exist for long. Duncan Hunter understands this too. While I love Sam Brownback for his consistent record on life, I do not think he has the ready, steady security-related judgement and experience that is needed in a president. Huckabee's record on national security is flawed. Thompson pushed Campaign Finance Reform to shut up conservatives just a few years ago, and stated that the prolife Republican platform was a problem, and now hides behind federalism as an excuse to avoid clear action on defending innocent human life-the very purpose for government. Giuliani is a joke- an opportunist who drifts wherever smoke blows him. Romney and his wife publicly supported Planned Parenthood within the past few years. McCain follows the runoff after it rains. Once again, Duncan Hunter stands strong-more of a Catholic than the a la carte self-excommunicated crowd. This Catholic is proudly supporting Duncan Hunter. www.gohunter08.com
