I agree to a certain extent, but too many of the charities don’t have the money to take care of severely disabled people.

I just don’t want those people to fall through the cracks.

The main problem with charity is that it's unreliable, inconsistent and unequal. Often, the person who gets the most charity is the person who is most effecting in 'selling' his own supposed afflictions. Instead of setting up a black and white either-or situation, we should work at solving the problem with as little recourse to government as possible. The 'problem' in general being people who need help, but don't get it for whatever reason. If we can do that, this will undermine the rationale for more government programs.
