Liberalism is a religion. It has all the elements of one. The idea it is open minded and dedicated to a search for the truth is a joke. Liberalism will not consider any ideas that do not fit its worldview. The Nobel Committee's decision came as no surprise.

No, it came as no surprise. "Liberalism" is a misnomer as applied to the Left. It is Orwellian newspeak. The Left is the opposite of liberal. And, exactly as you say, the Left has no commitment to truth or a search for truth. In fact, it is scornful of truth and those who speak truth.
