What I don’t understand is if Savage is so offended by Coulter’s “Christians are perfected Jews” comment, then why does he frequently quote from the New Testament? If he was truly a practicing Jew, he wouldn’t have anything to do with the teachings of Jesus and the NT.

Savage quotes mostly from the OT, don't think I've ever heard him quote anything from the NT, I have a feeling he's not too enthralled with Jesus Christ and the NT, same as most Jews.

The difference is most liberal Jews would have nothing to do with Savage but conservative Christians would, Savage can quote all he wants from the OT and Christians can relate to it, but unlike probably most of Savage's audience Savage could not relate to the NT. But with that said religious issues almost always provokes contentious discussion.
