“I am not sure that Judaism is an evangelistic religion.”
I am sure that it is not.
Jewish people believe the covenent of Mt. Sinai is for Jewish people.
All other people have the Covenent of Noah, which basically says “worship God in whatever manner God told your people to worship Him” (dramatic oversimplification).

If this is true, then why did their God tell Jonah to go to a gentile country to call them to repentance AND worship their God ?
Jonah's attitude ( according to their scripture) was precisely "Jewish", "leave then with the covenant of Noah and leave them alone, I am not going to be involved in evangelizing them.".
Jonah believed in this so much that he even decided to run away instead of accepting his mission. So the next question is this -- why did their God go to the whole trouble of FORCING Jonah to "evangelize" a foreign nation ? ( you know the story ... ).
