I have nothing but love and admiration for Jews, for example, and think it my duty to support them, but I do wish in my heart for a Christian conversion on their part.

You "love" Jews...but wish they didn't exist. Gotcha...

I have christian love for criminals, but I wish they weren’t criminals. I have christian love for muslims, but I wish they were not muslims. I have christian love for all humanity (regardless of faith), but I wished that they knew/understood the life saving power of Jesus Christ. It’s not a matter of “wishing that they didn’t exist”. Surely you can reason better than that. It’s a matter of them embracing the truth, which -but they way- does not imply their non-existence.
