Really? I've never heard that one. The explanation I've heard is that because of the great pain it has caused Jewish families many years ago, it's prohibited for Jews to inflict that misery on others.

It is just not an issue at all. I really do feel it has a lot to do with the “chosen people” concept, being confident in their beliefs and quite willing to allow others to believe differently.
There is quite a bit of insecurity expressed when one feels the need to get others to think like they do.
How about “hey, you like what you do, I like what I do. That’s cool.”
Personally, I am offended by bigots who feel only their way is right, whether it be their religion, lifestyle or their computer.
