How are police supposed to notify the consul when many communities are “sanctuary” cities and the police can’t ask about immigration status? It seems that if they rule in favor of this rapist/murderer then we can no longer have “sanctuary” cities.

I think it’s about time you gave up this fantasy of expecting logical consistency and well-reasoned opinions from the Left, don’t you?

After reading the person their Miranda rights they could add on somethng like this: "If you are a citizen of another country you are entitled to speak with that country's consulate."

The only cure I see for sanctuary cities is impeachment. You can't vote them out because that's how they got there in the first place. Someone needs to start impeaching them for lawless behavior or failure to uphold their oath. If they are confronted with breaking the law, they have to go and can be prosecuted after they are impeached. Why should one city follow the law and another blatantly tell you up front they won't follow the law. Another benefit would be that most all I hear of are dems. After a few do the perp walk on TV, maybe the Dems would be tarred with lawbreaker status.

What if a mayor decided not to prosecute bank robbers because the banks are rich and the robbers need the money? Same difference. I think if you are a police chief, or some other "hired" person, they should be fired. If the city won't fire them, then it needs to go higher on rico statutes. What would a citizen do if the police wouldn't arrest the mafia? You have to get out of the city and go higher. If the state won't do it, then federal.
