They were in a car accident, right?

So why doesn’t the auto insurance pay for the medical expenses? Or did they forego auto insurance, too, like they did health insurance?

I just asked that question in another thread. Does anyone have an answer?

I suspect that the collision was their fault (whichever parent was driving) and that they only had the minimum amount of MedPay. Either that or the legal case resulting from the collision is still in litigation.

We were rear-ended about 20 years ago, and our MedPay at the time was only $5,000. It barely covered our medical expenses, though none of us had a hospital stay. MedPay pays those expenses right away, and then when you finally settle with the other guy who was at fault, all those expenses go into your pocket.

Since then, we’ve carried $100,000 MedPay, just in case.
