If someone says I'm not independent, it's going to be very hard for me to bite my tongue. ... Absolutely. But Matthews is still an independent left-wing kook. Just because one is 'independent', does not mean they don't have strong biases.

Remember Ann Coulter making Matthews pay the “price of independence” when he tried to set up an ambush with Edwards wife? She spanked him, her and Edwards. Matthews is a left-wing, partisan hack. How could he not be when he worked for Tip O’Neill?
