I don’t think Levin backs down ... noooo.
Surprising segment .. further into his program .. he described how he got into a long period of deep grief and heartbreak over the loss of his dog.
He was really about in tears talking about it .. had me weepy.
He said he was honestly so close to ending his radio career, he was that destroyed with grief. He then related how much more horrendous would it be to lose a child, spouse, sibling ..and the folks who have children fighting this war, and how tough loss is and that we all have to deal with it.
He said he got tremendous support from Rush and Hannity, etc. ... who comforted, encouraged and counseled him not to quit, and so he picked himself up and went on.
His new book is about his beloved dog, Sprite. He’s really a big softie at heart about pets, and will even be opening a new blog site for folks to talk about their pets.
VERY ironic ... maybe foretelling a future calculated alliance ??

**For Clinton and Obama, a Common Ideological Touchstone**
“Seventeen years later, another young honor student was offered a job as an organizer in Chicago. By then, Alinsky had died, but a group of his disciples hired Barack Obama, a 23-year-old Columbia University graduate, to organize black residents on the South Side, while learning and applying Alinsky’s philosophy of street-level democracy.
The recruiter called the $13,000-a-year job “very romantic, until you do it.”
Today, as Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton face off for the Democratic presidential nomination, their common connection to Alinsky is one of the striking aspects of their biographies.
Obama embraced many of Alinsky’s tactics and recently said his years as an organizer gave him the best education of his life.
Clinton’s interest was more intellectual — she turned down the job offer — and she has said little about Alinsky since their association became a favorite subject of conservative critics during her husband’s presidency.”

“Barbara Olson, the conservative lawyer and commentator,
**used an Alinsky quote to open every chapter of her 1999 book, “Hell to Pay: The Unfolding Story of Hillary Rodham Clinton.”**
Olson, who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks, had charged in her book that the thesis was locked away because Clinton “does not want the American people to know the extent to which she internalized and assimilated the beliefs and methods of Saul Alinsky.”

Dearlord, do we miss Barbara Olson, God rest her soul.
I had no idea (I can only hear Levin on the Internet, so I get little info on him). I skipped ahead and I'm listening to him talk about his dog (and animal shelters) now. I had no idea he loved Sprite so much. It's very moving -- and something a lot of us can identify with. My admiration for Levin keeps growing.
