It's Huckabee or Hillary
There has never been another election like this in all of our history it is for all or nothing literally.
We will either win everything we have worked for in the last three and a half decades or we will lose it all. Beyond losing the chance to restore protection to unborn children in our lifetime, we face losing every single pro-life law we have passed in the last 34 years. Parental notice, parental consent, the woman's right to know law, waiting periods, fetal homicide, abortion funding restrictions, partial-birth abortion bans all gone wiped off the books in every single state with the promised signature of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to the radical "Freedom of Choice Act," or FOCA.

I don't want either of them. I could probably hold my nose and vote for Mitt, but I will write in Fred or Hunter if Huckabee is the nominee.
Actually, if we are looking for someone perfect, we are looking in vain. I say look strongly at this afternoon’s GOP debate. Everyone is saying watch Fred. I say, watch Mike.
Just to be accurate, and not to (immediately) slam anyone, but anti-abortionism is not synonymous with conservatism, just as "values voters" are not synonymous with "conservatives".
Even as what's-her-name asserts in her column (factually or not), "value voters" will walk from a 100 percent caonservative agenda if they don't get a blood oath on anti-abortionism.
Even though I know I'll get flamed, I might as well state that I believe life begins at conception, and abortion is quite clearly killing of the unborn and innocent. For that reason I oppose it.
But this is an ethical and not a "conservative" issue per se, and that's affirmed by (a) the columnist's assertion that "values voters" aka anti-abortionists handed our government to a cabal of corrupt communists and socialists for their purportedly higher ideal, and (b) the "values voters" aka anti-abortionists would as easily vote for a Socialist, Democrat, Greenie, or any dreamy third-party so long as the blood-oath were included.
I could go on about the immaturity and solipsism of the "value voters" and their single-issue obsession, but I'll simply hope that some day conservatives can rid themselves of this ugly and unwieldy appendage.
By the way you "value voters", under the socialist regime you allowed to gain office in 2006, and under it's enhanced stature post-2008, you will have thrown away much much more of America's heritage and interest than your single issue. The damage you do to America is profound.
And finally, don't count on this conservative Republican of 35 years to EVER vote for an ordained disciple of ANY church or faith for the United States Presidency. That is first and foremost a MINUS, IMO. Your mistakes on this concept have been legion, but the main one is that our government is just that, a government. It is not a spiritual entity for the redemption of souls or of anything spiritual at all.
As for Huck, he has all the bearing and hubris of Jimmy Carter, another great "spiritual" President of our time.
I absolutely agree. Staying home, or voting third party is handing the election to people who have proved who they are by their actions over and over and over. If you think it’s OK to steal classified documents from the National Archives, let Hillary win. If you think it’s OK to let the ChiComs have US defense secrets, stay home on election day because you don’t like some of what the Republican candidate’s views are. If you think we need more Supreme Court Justices like Ginsberg, go ahead and withhold your vote from the Republican candidate. Standing on principle is an empty exercise when it results in handing your enemy the blade with which to cut out your heart.
DUNCAN HUNTER is still my man.....
Polly
I predicted weeks before that debate that Huckabee - solely on his credentials as an ordained minister - would play to that crowd and win them over smartly, overwhelmingly, and with little effort.
His stated tendencies toward Taliban-like social controls doesn't bother the true "values voter" one single whit.
Which IMO is the reason conservatives should completely ditch the Religious Morals & Abortion Party and let them work things out on their own. I for one am sick to death of their obsession and their immature threats.
And more power to 'em if they accidentally bump into some conservative principles along the way.
His mandate that Arkansas taxpayers had to provide welfare payments to people who aren't even in the country legally showed his true mindset and will forever disqualify him from earning my vote for any office.
Same here. He has no chance.
Imagine that, Huckabee (a Baptist) wanting to tell us how to live while Romney (a Mormon) does not. I think it is quite telling.
Hunter’s great, but unless he starts to gain some serious momentum between now and December then Janet Folger will be right. I think our best hope at the moment, for Hunter to win, is if Dr. Dobson or one of the other big-time social conservatives come out endorsing him. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I would rather put up with Huckabee’s weakness on fiscal conservatism than Fred, Mitt, or Giuliani’s weaknesses on social conservatism.
I agree. I cannot stand the thought of Clinton. I think these “stay home if my guy does not get the nod” people are blind and hiding behind “principle” and will get Clinton elected.
I’m upset that aborting assault weapons won’t be legal unless you pay a Fair Tax to an Elian Gonzales that is evolving, not created.
The politician who understands me when I say "leave me alone" gets my vote.
We need more federalists in DC, and fewer nanny-statists. That's why I'm a Fredhead.
Tenth amendment, baby!!!
Yes, that is my #1 issue as well. I’m disgusted and fed up with the nannies, and I never thought I would be saying it, but that’s how quickly it is moving.
Ann Coulter wants Huckabee. She hates Rudy, Thompson, Romney and all the rest.
What about his weaknesses on the war and illegal aliens? Huckabee is completely unacceptable. If he is the nominee I WILL write in Fred or Duncan. I will NEVER vote for Huckabee.
VERY well said.
It needs to repeated often, particularly as we approach election day.
Madame President and “The First Loutie” can not win.
Regardless of the article, I think we all realize that we’re focused on the primary election now, not the general election.
Has anyone on this thread gone to Huckabee’s website to actually read his stands on issues like immigration? I’m amazed that intelligent Freepers would so easily buy into liberal mainstream articles about a conservative candidate running for the nomination. He’s a Christian so of course his stands are going to be slanted in the media. Some here need to do their homework.
Here are Huckabee’s views on immigration:
http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_id=4
“THOSE WHO ARE CAUGHT TRYING TO ENTER ILLEGALLY MUST BE DETAINED, PROCESSED, AND DEPORTED. ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WHO ARE ALREADY LIVING AMONG US AND COMMIT CRIMES MUST BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW AND INCARCERATED OR DEPORTED.”
You can read the rest at the site. Get it from the horse’s mouth and stop trusting the MSM so much.
Our government is not a religious institution.
