Oh, spare us.

First of all the Cheney’s do not = Bush. Far from it.

Maybe if Bush had paid Cheney more mind he wouldn’t have created some of the fallout he’s done this last three years. Including the nomination of Harriet Miers that Cheney DID NOT favor.

Cheney was added to the Bush campaign because he had experience and because he was conservative. Two areas Bush was deemed to be light on. Just as Bush 41 was added to Reagan’s campaign to offset Reagan’s conservatism to appease the Rockefellar crowd.

Far from trying to make the case Thompson is the annointed one, especially in the face of persistant attacks from the republican establishment on him, I find the presence of a member of the Cheney’s to provide some assurance for conservatives. Except maybe social conservatives. Though I suppose Allen fills that absence.

The ‘macaca’ thing has nothing to do with Thompson. George Allen has excellent recent experience in the political realm, and will be an asset to the campaign.

I think Allen was a great Va guv and was headed to be a great senator.
However he ran one of weakest self-apologetic "deer-in-headlights" campaigns for reelection I have ever seen.
I now question his political judgment & campaign sense!

Perhaps Fred has others and Liz Cheney coaching him before his debate tomorrow, after all, she was the ( as this article says ) she helped in the VP Presidential debates back in 2004.
A question I need to ask, or anyone's opinion ,,, is George Allen's political career over because of his MACCACA statement and moment ? would he be a viable VP choice ?

There was a article a few months ago that the people who were in Reagan's inner circle were going to support George Allen last year for 08, but, after his Maccaca moment, they jumped ship for his Presidential hopes.
It said that Reagan's former people were just waiting for a candidate to come around, and when they saw Fred, they threw there support towards Fred.

Imagine that, when things heat up next year and Hillary picks Obama as running mate, Fred could very well pick Liz Cheney.

Allen barely lost that election. It could have gone into overtime. Allen could take the Warner seat if he wanted to in a heartbeat.
