A mild-mannered Brooklyn high school teacher says he was nearly scared to death by NYPD cops who mistook him for a perp.
When the violent encounter was over, Lester Jacob, 50, suffered a heart attack and was left on his own in the street by cops, who accused him of "acting."
In July he underwent open-heart surgery.
Jacob had the misfortune to be driving home through Brownsville, Brooklyn, on June 22 around the same time cops were on the lookout for a hit-and-run driver. Jacob, an earth science teacher at James Madison High School in Midwood, heard a siren, looked in his rear-view mirror and dutifully pulled over for the radio car behind him.
He wasn't prepared for what happened next. Two officers rushed up to Jacob's vehicle and pointed their guns at his head, according to a lawsuit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court.
Cursing at him, they ordered Jacobs out of the car and roughly cuffed him.
"One officer crushed his knee into Mr. Jacob's back," the complaint states. "They then repeatedly slammed his head onto the car and then pressed his head against the car for some time."
Additional officers arrived on the scene with a witness to the earlier accident. The witness told them Jacob was the wrong guy.
"'I told you it was a white Maxima,'" the witness reportedly said, according to the complaint. Jacob drives a white Infiniti.
Jacob told the cops he was experiencing chest pains and began coughing uncontrollably.
A female cop said, "Nice acting," according to Jacob, and then drove off. Jacob said he struggled to drive home, stopping to vomit on the side of the road.
His wife rushed him to the hospital, where doctors determined he had suffered a heart attack.
"I was scared to death," Jacob said of his brush with the NYPD. "I was feeling terror."
His attorney John Lambros said there was no reason for the cops to handcuff or use excessive force against the 150-pound teacher while they were waiting for the witness to show up.
The cops were not identified, but their radio car number has been turned over to the Civilian Complaint Review Board. A spokeswoman for the city Law Department said the complaint is being reviewed.
Just more proof that the cops need to be leashed, or have the daylights stomped out of them.

This story may be true in it’s entirety, may be partially true or may be completely false. I don’t know, and more importantly, neither do you.

You are wasting your time writing to the foaming at the mouth pavlovian response types. Media says bad cop, they go beserk regardless of the facts or the lack of facts. Happens every week.

Something very similar to that happened her a couple of years ago. A woman and a couple of adolescent kids walked into the bar I was in, and asked where they could get a tire fixed. They were from out of town, passing through from one nearby town to another one, and had a blowout about a mile out of town. They walked into town, and found the only open business that late, a bar. The bar owner called the cops and told them a motorist needed help. The dispatcher made a snotty reply to the effect that they didn’t help motorists. A couple of samaritans at the bar(those dirty barflies) volunteered to provide a spare tire and put it on the people’s car. When they got to the woman’s vehicle, there were 2 cop cars there, and several cops seraching the car with a dope dog. They interrogated the woman, the kids, the samaritans, treated everybody as a potential criminal, and refused to help in any way. Real good advertising, cops.
Par for the course. All the bootlickers say these are isolated incidents. When does the volume of isolated incidents make them not so isolated anymore?
They drove off and left a heart attack victim laying in the street. Serve and Protect??
If so, there’d be a whole lot of twenty-somethings needing bypasses. This 50 y/o has been eating fat for a long time, and his bypass number came up.

If this was not sarcasm it was stupidest post I have seen, on many levels. For one, heart disease is heart disease. Maybe this guy had a bad diet, maybe not. I have a great diet, very low cholesterol, and calcification of the aorta. Not from what I eat but from my heredity.
Secondly, the cops were inept, and the witness pointed it out. There is no evidence that he posed any threat or appeared to pose any threat to the 'coppers.' at anytime
Thirdly, for a cop to accuse someone with symptoms of physical distress (chest pains and coughing) of acting is beyond ineptness.
Unless, of course, they shoot me first and ask questions later. But that is not what happened.
That's great! Everyone has to be like you. But we aren't. Some of us read the story and the reported details are that they had guns drawn and to his head, pushed him down to the ground and repeatedly hit his head against the car.
May your child at their most vulnerable moment have to experince this. But not to worry, I'm sure they'd be amused.
I have read this thread... And while I doubt there is anything new I could say or perhaps say better, I will none the less bravely jump in and reply to several of the posts, because we seems to have a couple very loud repeat posters who might be intimidating many many other posters... and I never like to see that sorta thing happen.

Nothing is worse than a bad cop... or bad politician.. or IRS agent or any other ABUSER of the Peoples Authority in the name of the law.
Note that: The People’s Authority. Cops et al, work for ME, for US and just because they do, does not imply that I as a sovereign individual have waived or ceded my rights in any manner to any degree.

Does not seem to these days. Long gone are the heroes of old who defended the innocent and took up the badge to serve and protect. Now days they seem to serve and protect themselves.
As the song lyric goes "Ol' Billy was right, let's kill all the lawyers, let's kill'em tonight" might today be written about cops.
There are nice suburban communities around here where I fear the cops more than the “bad guys.” Over-policed, they are always on the lookout for more fresh meat to stuff into the sausage grinder bureaucracy called the “criminal justice system.” If I had a flat tire, I’d get 3 cop cars around me, and the cops wouldn’t lift a finger to fix the flat, they’d want to search my car.
Yeah, we have a small suburb here too that is on the way from my house to school. And it is nothing but a speed trap full of jack booted thugs. Been pulled over several times because I have tinted windows and they want to meter me. yeah they have a light meter to check that too. I pass, I am legal, barely... but I just HATE driving through there at night because of it.
They are nothing but armed tax collectors... the Sherrif of Nottingham was more honest about HIS taxes.
The very concept of how cops behave today is to instill fear in the citizens, brown shirt style.
