it seems much wiser principle these days to hang on to all your organs as long as you safely can, because they are there for a reason.

Except it was the religious types who stole my foreskin.

That use is not needed in a modern industrialized society

In other words it's vestigial

Given the obvious trouble you are having with your brain housing group, I have a feeling you are forced to guess about just about everything...from religion, science or how to tie your shoes.

"vestigal" status

First time I heard that phrase. Guess that makes me a "vestigal" virgin?

(Stop groaning!)

Next, he’ll be saying an illegal alien stole his appendix.

CREATIONISTS RESPOND:
______________

Shouldn’t that read CREATIONIST (singular) RESPONSE? Or are you now speaking for all creationists?

I’m a Creationist, the CreationSafaris team are Creationists, and they are endorsed by thousands of Creationist that span the globe. Thus, the use of the plural is appropriate.

From the article:

The idea “seems by far the most likely” explanation for the function of the appendix, said Brandeis University biochemistry professor Douglas Theobald. “It makes evolutionary sense.” (emphasis added)

comment:
Apparently it made just as much evolutionary sense when the appendix had no function as it does to them now when it has a function.

Evolutionary theory can be made to explain almost anything, yet it predicts very little. This is a tipoff that it may not be science. Astrology explains a lot, but predicts little too.

I was not impressed when I read Darwin’s discussion of “useless” organs. He claimed that a useless organ would devastate his theory. He examined one that appeared useless, found a use, then established the prejudice that you will find a use if you look hard enough. As a fall back, if you still can’t find a use, it should be assumed to be vestigial and to have once had a use. Basically, no matter what you find, Darwin’s theory rules. This is protecting a theory from evidence, another tipoff that it is not real science (as Karl Popper once concluded).

“Don’t let the Darwinists try to steal glory for Charlie over this. Consider that Darwin’s theory held up medical research on these supposed vestigial organs for 100 years. Tonsils were routinely cut out of children’s throats under the assumption they were useless relics of our evolutionary past, only for the victims to discover it made them more susceptible to throat infections. Though you had better get an appendectomy if you get appendicitis, it seems much wiser principle these days to hang on to all your organs as long as you safely can, because they are there for a reason.”

It’s science that figured out what the organ is for, not some goofy creationist.

If the scientific assumption was they are useless relics, why did anyone spend one iota of time studying it?

I heard that the appendix is/was helpful for digesting raw meat.

Funny, I feel the exact same way about the Church of Darwin.

My wife's was removed when she was young "since we're going to be in there."

Yes, ideas have consequences.

"He told me he was in a car wreck when he was a toddler and had an operation that removed his bellybutton"

COOL!

My wife loves to watch those plastic surgery shows, and one had a fat lady who lost a ton of weight.
She had rolls of flab draped all over her, so they did a cut and paste job on her.
And they made a little hole were they pulled her bellybutton through and sewed it back in place.
I couldn't understand why they went through all that trouble.
I thought they should have just left it out.
My wife thought I was nuts.
Maybe she's right.

I find it bizarre that a field of study that is almost entirely self-correcting is so denigrated. Instead of one its greatest strengths, it is seen as weakness.
