Do your children have brain injuries?

Not sure what your point is. If we were in a serious car accident, our insurance would cover 80% of it,beginning at the 5K mark. That would hurt us financially, but we'd manage. Providing our own health coverage is something we consider to be OUR responsibility, not that of the government.

It sounds like this particular family has never had health insurance, before OR after the accident. Sorry, but if you have kids, you owe it to them to have both life insurance and whatever health insurance you can afford. The mom in the story should look for a job with group insurance coverage. That's what an awful lot of families have to do if there are serious pre-existing conditions that would disqualify them from private insurance.

My point was that if you had two children who had suffered brain injuries, you either could not get insurance for them or it would be too expensive. I DO agree that they should have had it before and it would seem to make sense for mom to find a job with insurance.
