The Detroit Free Press is reporting that federal prosecutor J.D. Roy Atchison of Gulf Breeze, who was charged last month after allegedly flying to Detroit to have sex with a 5-year-old child, committed suicide today.
The newspaper cited authorities who said Atchison hanged himself this morning at the federal prison in Milan, Mich., where he was taken after previously trying to commit suicide at Sanilac County Jail.
They said the 53-year-old Atchison, who worked in the U.S. attorney’s office in Pensacola, had been housed in solitary confinement and was under close supervision, the newspaper reported.
Lawyer James Thomas of Detroit said he planned to ask a federal judge to dismiss the charges against Atchison, the Free Press reported.
Greg Miller, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida, issued the following statement in response to Atchison's suicide: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Roy’s family and friends. We hope that with the passage of time, they can find some measure of healing."
Yup. I'm floored by the revelations of a myspace page. How arrogant could you possibly be, to not only pursue such sick perversions, but to actually flaunt them and think you won't get caught? And a prosecutor, at that??!!
I have to post again what he said:
"Atchison reassured the sheriff's deputy who was posing as the child's mother that he would not hurt the 5-year-old because he goes 'slow and easy,' and 'I've done it plenty,'" The Detroit News reports.
“There was not child, it was a sting operation.”
So???, If he was not arrested in this sting he may have gotten away with it with a real child.

Normally you’d probably be assuming correctly but in this case your wrong. He is (was) a registered republican sorry to say. Even sadder to say that I think I remember voting for an Atchinson not too long ago.
BTW, the NW Florida Daily News is in a HUGE military area and highly conservative which may explain not tagging this degenerate with an “R” next to his name.

Former prosecutors aren't all that popular in prison either. With this guy being a two-fer they would probably have been lined up down the hall for him.
Monica was a legal adult, hardly comparable to a 5-year-old. Bubba is a slime-bucket, but he’s not even in the same ballpark as the late Mr. Atchison.
He has prosecuted his last case, won a conviction and the sentence has been carried out.
