Common descent are parallel evolution explains why new world and old world vultures look similar, yet old world vultures maintain the morphological and molecular similarity that they have retained from their hawk fore-bearers.

What other explanation is there for this data other than a closer relationship between old world vultures and hawks than between new world vultures and old world vultures?

Here it is: Those are the similarities and contrasts that God wanted, and deliberately and specifically planned in to those animals when He created them. No evolutionary process was necessary to accomplish it. There was no need for either a common descent or a parallel evolution.

And they will produce after their own kind.
