Members of the Senate using false information to trash a radio personality is unacceptable. Media Matters willfully using false information to trash a radio personality is unacceptable. That’s it, as far as I’m concerned. Members of Congress think they’re petty gods and can get away with this crap. If they want to sign on to a lie, then by all means let’s call it what it is.
Suppose a group of conservative Senators had done this to a liberal?
Reid and Harkin are much worse than Joe McCarthy. They’re attacking a person, based on a total lie.

Fine, but I want them out of positions of power and authority. These guys are dangerous. Liberals think they can get away with anything, since they count on the media and the blithering culture they promulgate to protect them.

What Rush said and what Savage said had nothing, nothing! to do with the First Amendment.
To wit, Rush did not say that military personnel who question the war are phony and Savage did not say that he wanted the Hispanic demonstrators to die.
The issue is truth. The issue should also include why lying, partisan tax-exempt front groups like MorOn.org and mediasmatters have tax exempt status.
I've heard that these leftist groups are mounting a campaign of harassment of advertisers -- so the issue expands to RICO. I seem to remember that conspiring to deprive someone of his ability to earn a living is a crime.
IMO talking about the First Amendment lends credence among the apolitical for the Left's lies. What's happening goes way beyond the Bill of Rights, it's about Stalinist tactics.
