I would have supported Mitt, and Fred would not have been necessary, if Mitt had been a proven, solid, long-time conservative.
But I would have done so in spite of the fact that the Mormonism issue renders Mitt unelectable, a loss of maybe 5% vote margin that no Republican can afford to give away.

It cuts both ways, you know. I was talking to a Mormon the other day who said if Romney is eliminated because he is a Mormon, he will never again vote for an Evangelical.
