Please pray on this day, and every day, for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm's way around the world in defense of our liberty, and for the families awaiting their safe return.
Well, maybe 12,000 #. Bo has hungry friends on the coast. Perhaps you’ve met some of them?
Back at’cha: 17th after a 3rd last year. And this is after something of a late rally to get that far!
LOL. I’m not highly encouraged myself... I just used up all the good drivers already. Last year, the first half sucked because I wasn’t paying attention to who was good... just looked at the record. By the second half, I still had lots of good drivers left.
This year I burned up everybody that can finish in the top twenty. Ah, what the hey, I still get to watch the race.
Well, he didn’t say that to be nice to the camera, the sponsor, or to suck up to Nascar. That’s how it is. Good on him.
Hamlin was curious as to why he and Gibbs teammates Tony Stewart and J.J. Yeley were singled out. "They said Gibbs cars in specific, they had an eye out on," Hamlin said. "I wonder what makes us different than anyone else, other than we were the first three cars in line. We were working well together, and when I say working well together, we were pushing each other well. But they said they didn't want any contact, and we broke that rule. So we're going sit have to sit out for a while." NASCAR officials said they parked Hamlin for refusing to heed a NASCAR directive.
"Our concern is whenever you've got restrictor-plate racing and cars as closely matched as they are, you're always going to have occasions of front bumpers being in contact with rear bumpers. It's a product of the draft," NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby said. "That being said, there's also a point where it's forced aggressiveness and that's what we don't want to have happen."
Darby said Hamlin wasn't the only driver who was warned, but he was the most aggressive. Hamlin said his #11 team would not participate in Friday's second [Happy Hour and final] practice.(SceneDaily.com)(10-5-2007)
But it certainly raises the oil pressure for me....this is the sh!t, as they say.
Late 60's / early 70's, not sure....a Dodge Charger (Nascar version) is running the course at Le Mans.
Dick Pierson is the driver of the "heavy metal".
The little "kick me" cars have an edge in the serious corners....but when the Nascar "beast" gets some space to 'get it on' - it's nothing short of OMG!
Turn your speaker volume up.....
Now turn it up some more...........
This....this is the sound of power......real American power...
I want to see an updated version of this, say, Boris Said driving the beast....
This clip reminds me of my early days in Las Vegas - the off road races - The Mint 400. Drive up to Apex and you are there, on the course....eating the dust....
Class 8 - Heavy Metal...full size trucks.
Ivan the "Iron Man" Stewart...Walker Evans...Rick Mears...
The Americans got an invite to go play in the Australian 1000 - first time ever, '84 or '85, I think. This was an open invite to all and anyone for an off-road 1,000 mile race.
Lot's of European entries - little 'kick me' cars, and the first time any of them had seen or competed against an American off road vehicle.....
Class 8 - Heavy Metal, Keith Black built the engines - 850+ HP......
These words come from an article I read, covering the event...
"The European drivers had never seen, or heard, a vehicle like the Americans brought to the race. Many of them simply pulled off to the side when they "heard" an American truck come up behind them...'it sounded like Hell was behind you'"
American Thunder, down under.
Thank you Keith Black.
Altho I did think about you this week as I was doing picks...
I had 10 picks to get comming home starting in Visalia, Modesto, Ripon, Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento, Oroville where I thought how it must feel for you to live almost geographically in the middle of nowhere, and finished in sparks...
btw you might want to locate the nearest bakery in case I do dump a load of bacon in your front yard, you're gonna need a lot of toast!
About the Bacon... I can fill the freezer with bread but tomatoes are going to be a problem. Funny thing, I woke up this morning hankerin for some that Costco Apple Smoked extra lean so I have a platter ready to Nuke...
See ya later
I enjoyed this: "Many of them simply pulled off to the side when they "heard" an American truck come up behind them..."
That happens here too :o)
I heard that Penske has never won a plate race.
Yep. Texas on Nov 4
Well, maybe, but Kurt has the second best record at Talladega of all current drivers.
True that. Busch is one of the few drivers that actually likes the COT, and thinks it will be the opportunity for Penske racing to end that streak. We shall see what we shall see...
The last laps of this truck race are getting silly.
Got to watch most of the race, not too bad. Except, as you say, the boys were getting a bit twitchy towards the end.
The Onion!
Great finish!
Even had the big one. The Wife was most impressed, "Look at that, they are going everywhere!"
And tomorrow we get to see the COT 'big one'.
Did you watch qualifying? DJ qualified 8th but has to start 43rd??
Jayski says this, "and #44-Jarrett [who qualified 8th but will start 43rd as the top 7 non-top 35 start where they qualified and 8th starts 43rd unless an eligible past champ needs the spot]"
Ummmm.....what?
Put two shoulders on the BGE about 4 hours ago. Wonder where I got that idea? :)
You have a meat slicer? The smart half of this pair bought me one a couple weeks ago. Way cool, should have had one a long time ago.
Just sliced a 2.5 lb. London Broil for some beef bulgogi, now resting in some marinade for a couple of hours.
This is how all Saturdays should be....Racin', Smokin', Slicin'....and I haven't even got to football..yet! :)
I looked at a slicer this week, but got distracted and didn’t buy it. I’ve got plans to pick one up, maybe in the morning. I’d like to smoke a whole sirloin from Costco, then slice it into sandwich and dinner size pieces and vacuum seal them. Id like to do the same with a boneless pig shoulder. It’d sure make jerky easier to make too.
