Poor example. New Jersey sucks (I’m from there), as do a few other states who abuse the second amendment rights of the people who live in them. A few states will fight to the end against the rights of their people, New Jersey being one of them. If the federal government passed a law mandating the correction of the records, because forbidding a person to purchase a certain object is regulation of interstate commerce, New Jersey and its ilk would suddenly find limtitations to the commerce clause, and probably support states’ rights.

Whatever is done, a few blue states will oppose it and many may refuse to comply. I’d rather get my foot in the door than wait until it is open all the way. Incrementalism works in our favor, too.

Thanks for the info on the issue. Naturally being a former combat vet diagnosed with PTSD with an unusally strong belief in gun ownership I have particular interest in the proffered bill and know how the anti-gun idiots in our government will exploit any little weakness in the pending legislation.

Oh, and I'm no real fan of the self-serving and double dealing NRA.

Is Mr. Frederick still President of the NRA? If he was, you might have a point. Since he’s probably been dead for 50 years, you don’t. If you want to waste your money of impotent fringe groups like GOA, that’s your privilege, but stop bashing the NRA and playing into the hands of the anti-gun lobby.

Good point. The 2nd Amendment, like the Constitution, is a living, evolving, breathing document.

All the dead men who wrote and implemented it, Jefferson, Franklin, Madison,Washington, et. al. are not relevant to the needs and beliefs of the current generation.

Mr. Frederick's heirs and assigns are completely in charge of the current NRA, just as they have been for the past half century.

You bet I am proud to join groups like the JFPO who aggressively defend the Constitution.

Best regards,

Well, I wouldn’t put Frederick in the same category as the founding fathers, but if you choose to, that’s your privilege, just like sending money to fringe groups who don’t accomplish anything but fund raising. At least you’re not sending your disposable income to sara brady.

The NRA was a target-shooting group until the first gun controls became onerous in the 60’s, and they have led the fight for the 2nd Amendment since then.

Perhaps it's not anti-veteran, but it's certainly anti-civilian. Especially when government gets to decide who's "mentally deficient" to the point that they shouldn't be allowed to carry a firearm.

To a liberal, being conservative is sufficient cause to prevent one from owning a firearm.

Well, I wouldn’t put Frederick in the same category as the founding fathers,

Sadly, he is in his own anonymous way at least as important because of the work he did to undo the Founding Fathers Achievements.

A few words from him at a crucial unremarked moment in history could have effectively quashed the entire 20th Century Gun Control Movement.

Instead, he chose to give aid and comfort to the enemies of the Constitution.

He richly deserves his special place in Hades.

Best regards,
