Vet Cuts Down Mexican Flag Flying Above U.S. Banner(For those who haven't already heard.)

After hearing a Reno bar was flying a Mexican flag above a U.S. flag, an angered U.S. Army veteran took matters into his own hands, drove to the site and cut down the banners in front of a stunned group of Hispanic patrons.

Reno television station KRNV, which was there to document Jim Broussard's act of defiance, noted the U.S. code prohibits raising the flag of any other nations above Old Glory.

Broussard pulled up in his truck to the Cantina El Jaripeo near downtown Reno yesterday, cut the rope that anchored the flags and pulled them down from a makeshift flagpole.

(Story continues below)

He left the Mexican flag on the ground and, with the U.S. flag in hand, turned to the KRNV cameraman:

U.S. military vet, with U.S. flag in hand, displays knife he used to cut it down

"I'm Jim Broussard," he said, "and I took this flag down in honor of my country with … a knife from the United States Army. I'm a veteran, I'm not going to see this done to my country. If they want to fight us, then they need to be men, and they need to come and fight us. But I want somebody to fight me for this flag. They're not going to get it back."

The KRNV footage shows a Hispanic man, possibly the bar owner, picking up the Mexican flag after Broussard briskly walks past him down the street to his truck.

Later, Broussard, told nationally syndicated talk-radio host Mike Gallagher he took action after hearing on a local talk station that the flags had been flying all day.

Now that’s a cut and run I would approve of!

What a dude....anyone who sees that should do the same as Mr. Jim Broussard!

It may be against US Code, but I believe the Mexican was within his first amendment rights. There's a reason this flag was flying. We need to look at the source of this "pro-Mexican" sentiment here. There is a cause. The cause is far more disturbing than the Mexican flag itself.

He used a Marine Kabar.

I think you are correct - the blade is longer than the USN Mk I that I picked up in 'Nam. I've somehow managed not to lose it along with a pair of brown jungle boots that were issued when black jungle boots were in short supply. The brown boots have a two-buckle flap like the old WWII style - they were bought in the 50s for jungle warfare operations.

“This is a volcano waiting to erupt.”

IMHO, it gets closer every day and IMO it’s not something we should desire, but it might be something that we get no matter what we desire. Unless something changes quick, we are looking at something really ugly.

What do you think? Maybe I am wrong here.

Jim Broussard, said it was an “Army Knife” they made special editions and sold them at AAFES, Mil Clothing, etc. I believe it was a Special edition K-Bar.

Sort of against federal law. It’s against the flag code, but the code provides for no enforcement or penalties. Not really a law without a punitive section.

NO flag should fly above the American Flag on our soil!! I don’t even like it when I see the Texas flag at the same height and as I understand it, that’s legal.

Blessing to Jim for have the guts to do what we should all do. No flag of another nation above or even equally beside ours......... Not now, not ever!

Nana

I often see the California flag flying at same height of the U.S. flag, on a separate pole. Sometimes there is yet another pole with a city flag, perhaps some other?

What I like to see is one flagpole, with Old Glory at the top and the POW/MIA flag underneath...

I don’t know...all I know is that people seem to have more anger over this issue than any other I’ve seen in all my years. It’s frightening.

Allow me to clue you in. The USA is being invaded, and the invaders do not plan to "assimilate," but to take the Southwest. At first, by demographic invasion, later, who knows? But it's none the less an invasion, and people are RIGHTLY very pissed off.

Clear now?

U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

Sounds like the Cantina El Jaripeo might accidentally burn to the ground one fine day.
