Asheville, NC (LifeNews.com) -- A North Carolina community college has arrested a handful of pro-life advocates who took the pro-life message to students on campus. Members of the group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust spent two hours at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College before they were charged with trespassing.
College officials asked the members of the group to move to a sidewalk and were arrested by local Asheville police when they declined.
A-B Tech President Betty Young said in a statement that the pro-life advocates disrupted the learning environment and violated campus policy requesting that outside groups obtain approval to appear on campus.
Kortney Blythe, the head of the pro-life group, told the Citizen Times newspaper that its members wanted to bring the pro-life message to the students there and said they had no problems when they went to UNC Asheville and Asheville High School the day before.
“They did not tell us any other option other than moving off their campus or get arrested,” she said. “The First Amendment gave us an OK when it established free speech.”
College spokeswoman Mona Cornwell said students and employees complained to officials and she claimed the pro-life advocates were acting confrontation -- a charge Blythe denies.
She said the members of her group are never "allowed to do anything that can be construed as violence.”
Arthur Hunt, an A-B Tech student and one of three local people arrested along with the group's members.
Pro-life advocates were also recently arrested at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. They were accused of trespassing there but a South Dakota state attorney later dropped the charges.

How true. The biggest shame of the matter is the swill the remaining good people still living there must endure. They let their city slip into depravity as I fear we are doing the same with our country. I never go to Asheville even though it’s very close. The street’s and malls are filled with beggars, witches,and under-bathed hippies. Charlotte may have the name, but Asheville is the real “queen” city ‘round here.
We have old friends there. Even when I was a young stupid liberal I was astounded by the flagrant celebration of depravity by the homosexual pagan wicca population of Asheville.
I had no idea it was like that in Asheville. I’ve never been to that part of the state. Leftists ruin every place they touch. They’re a cancer on this country.

Exactly, from street folks claiming they have a “right” to urinate on the sidewalk to the Mayor’s pledge to “house all of the homeless” Asheville went down the swirly bowl about 8 years ago, someone only needs to jiggle the handle to stop the toilet from running.
I don’t go downtown on a bet, let alone to shop, and AB-Tech has been overrun with liberal/hippies/leftists.

Asheville has the same problem as San Francisco. It's a beautiful, picturesque city. Much smaller, obviously, and nestled in the mountains instead of on a bay. But nice places tend to attract weirdos, who ruin the place for everyone else. Downtown Asheville now looks like Haight-Ashbury.
